Here's how it works:
- There are no pairings, matchups, or similar -- join the league whenever you want and play against anyone you like!
- Games will be played via Tabletop Simulator. I personally recommend using the Flesh and Blood - OSC mod for gameplay and using fabdb.net to create decklists.
- This site will automatically evaluate player ratings based on their performance in the league. Winning will gain points and losing will lose points. If you play against someone ranked above you, you will gain more with a win and lose less with a loss -- similarly, if you play against someone ranked below you, you will gain less with a win and lose more with a loss.
- Anyone can feel free to join the league and coordinate with opponents by whatever means! There is a Flesh and Blood Discord server at https://discord.gg/8Nfkyzd, so using that might be a good way to find opponents -- check out the #tts-ladder and #lf-tts-games channels in particular!
- In order for a game to count towards the ladder, both players need to know that it is a ladder game (no "surprise, I'm registering this!" or similar) and both people need to be signed up for ladder play. Feel free to create public lobbies called "Ladder game" or similar and point people towards this site to sign up, though!
- Both Blitz and Classic Constructed games can count towards this ladder. Ultimate Pit Fight does not count (the ladder software can't handle it!). That said, the final tournament will be Classic Constructed rather than Blitz format, so keep that in mind.
- If both players agree, games played at other TTS events (such as online tournaments) can count as well -- just make sure both players agree beforehand!
- Games played via webcam (Spelltable etc.) can also be applied to the ladder, though the "default format" is TTS.
- After completing a ladder game, the winner should use the board website to report a game. Their opponent will then receive a message saying a game has been reported, and should verify the result in order to update the standings as quickly as possible. In the event that an opponent reports a false result against you or accidentally selects the wrong person as having being their opponent, use the "Reject" option instead. Matches will automatically verify after 72 hours if no action is taken.
- It is recommended though not mandatory that you use the comments field in the match report to briefly describe the result -- for instance, you might write:
"My Dash defeats TowerNumberNine's Dorinthea (constructed)" - This ladder will run from today (Dec. 28th 2020) until April 6th, 2020. (The software says it ends on the 7th but that's when results will stop being taken -- I believe as soon as the date rolls over in Pacific time.) At the end of the season, there will be a "top cut" featuring the top 8 players from the season (by ladder rating).
- The top cut rules are as follows:
- The top cut will be Classic Constructed format.
- Players must meet the following standards to qualify for the top cut:
- Played at least 5 games
- Played against at least 3 different opponents in total
- The top cut will be either the top 8 (by ladder Elo rating) or as many qualified players as we can get if fewer than 8 players qualify.
- Top cut format will be single elimination best of one with standard seeding according to league performance (so the #1 player will play the #8 player, the #2 player will play the #7 player, etc.)
- If any of the top 8 players decline to play, the next most qualified player will take their spot instead.
- Players will be required to submit decklists prior to the top 8 and will not be allowed to change them during the course of the event.
- The winner of the top cut will receive a box of Welcome to Rathe Unlimited!
The in-game rules are:
- Use the official Legend Story Studios card legality, rules, and errata for the format you are playing. Any changes by LSS will take place immediately but not retroactively for this ladder -- for instance, if Azalea were banned next week, you would no longer be able to play her in the ladder as soon as the ban was announced, but any previously registered games using Azalea would not be invalidated.
- There is no requirement that players physically own the cards being used. If you want to play a game with only cards you actually have, feel free to negotiate that with an opponent, but by default use any cards you want!
- Players are not required to use the same decklist throughout normal league play, though decklists will be required for the top cut. Feel free to play around with different builds, classes, and so on!
